  Date of birth given as 21st September 1910 when she arrives in Ellis Island Records with her mother in 1913 but this can NOT be right because she is recorded in the 15 April 1910 New York census where her age given as 1 year at last birthday.  Margaret Knox says her mother's birthday  was definitely 21st April because she said she had the same birthday as the queen.  For her to be 1 year old in the April 1910 census, she must have been born in 1909, and probably April, if she is telling the truth about her birthday.  This is still odd because the census was carried out on 13th April and the age is supposed to be "age on last birthday".  And, just to add to the mystery, her mother only arrived in America on 25th May 1908, which barely gives her time to get married, get pregnant and have a child by April 1909! 
  SORTED!!  She did get married almost immediately on arriving.  Al Luce found the records at Ancestry.com.  Thomas Gordon married Margaret A Bellingham on Wednesday, 24th June 1908 at the Episcopal church in Newark, New Jersey, just a month after arriving in the US.  At the time, she was living at 225 Ege Avenue, Jersey City and he was living at 311 N 54th Street, New York.
  
  Nancy Turner, 221114: I'm afraid Margaret (Knox) got it wrong - we only have the place and birth date. When he (John) applied for a job with the M.O.D they went through various background checks. They were able to track down place and D.O.B of his mother as she had no birth certificate.  The M.O.D gave John this information - Born 81st Street New York, 21st April 1909.
