Margaret was born on October 6th, 1866. Margaret's father was Samuel [Crosscandly] Boyd and her mother was Anne "Nancy" Anderson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Boyd Jnr and Margaret Blair. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Mary, Martha and Rebecca.  She was the oldest of the five children.
