Elen's father was James Bellingham and her mother was Catherine Cunningham.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Bellingham and Anne Agnes/Nancy Dempsey. She had three brothers and a sister, named James, Thomas, William and Agness.  She was the oldest of the five children.
