John's father was Bryce Wright and his mother was Jean Turner.  His maternal grandparents were Peter Turner Sr. and Mary Russell. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert, Peter, William, Bryce, James and Mary.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 3 on June 27th, 1858 in Kirkoswald.  He was buried in Girvan.^1 1
