Hugh's father was William Willock and his mother was Agnes McLatchie. His maternal grandparents were William McLatchie and Janet Dalzell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, William, George, Mary, Janet and Agnes. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 55 on April 11th, 1919 in Aberdeen.
