Isabella's father was Peter Turner and her mother was Catherine Stewart.  Her paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. She had a brother and seven sisters, named John, Janet, Mary, Catharine, Agnes, Annie, Margaret and Peterina.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 9 in October 1869 in Edinburgh.  She was buried in Ratho.^2 2
