Agnes' father was Peter Turner Sr. and her mother was Mary Russell.  Her paternal grandparents were William Turner and Jean Russell; her maternal grandparents were John Russell and Isabella Brownlee. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Archibald, Peter, Jean, Mary, Ann and Janet.  She was the youngest of the nine children.
