Thomas' father was William Towers and his mother was Agnes Peacock. His paternal grandparents were James Towers and Annabella Ferguson; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Peacock and Isabelle Smith. He had four brothers and four sisters, named James, William, John, Joseph, Isabella, Agnes, Annie and Janet. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died due to a medical problem, Acute gastritis, acute cardiac dilation, at the age of 74 on July 9th, 1937 in Elderslie.³
