Margaret's father was William Towers and her mother was Jane Fraser. Her paternal grandparents were Michael Towers and Janet Mathie; her maternal grandparents were Alexander Fraser and Helen Hamilton. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, William, Alexander, Archibald, Janet, Janet, Helen, Mary and Jane. She was the second oldest of the ten children. She died due to a medical problem, Scarlet fever, at the age of 3 on April 8th, 1875 in Paisley.²
