Jane was born in March 1891 in Paisley.

Jane's father was William Towers and her mother was Jane Fraser. Her paternal grandparents were Michael Towers and Janet Mathie; her maternal grandparents were Alexander Fraser and Helen Hamilton. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, William, Alexander, Archibald, Janet, Margaret, Janet, Helen and Mary. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died due to a medical problem, whooping cough, at 3 months old on June 14th, 1891.
