James' father was William Tours and his mother was Janet Fulton.  His paternal grandparents were Michaill Towrs and Agnes Stewart; his maternal grandparents were William Fulton and Jean Urie. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, William, Michael, William, George, John, Alexander, Cecilia, Agnes and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the eleven children.  He died due to a medical problem, Bright's disease of kidney; duration, "a long time"; General anasarea, duration 4 months, at the age of 69 on April 15th, 1866 in Paisley.^2 3
