George's father was William Tours and his mother was Janet Fulton.  His paternal grandparents were Michaill Towrs and Agnes Stewart; his maternal grandparents were William Fulton and Jean Urie. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, William, James, Michael, William, John, Alexander, Cecilia, Agnes and Margaret.  He was the third youngest of the eleven children.  He died before 1840.¹
