Isabella was born on December 8th, 1807 in Ecclesmachan and her baptism took place on December 31st, 1807 in Linlithgow.1  Isabella's father was James Thomson and her mother was Jean Duncan.  Her paternal grandparents were Philip Thomson and Dorothea Hart. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named James, Alexander, James, Thomas, William, Philip, David, Dora, Jane, Jessie, Janet, Margaret and Helen.  She was the fifth youngest of the fourteen children.  She died at the age of 81 on October 15th, 1889 in Edinburgh.2
