Janet was born on February 9th, 1821 in Newton-on-Ayr and her baptism took place there on February 14th, 1821.1   Janet's father was William Robertson and her mother was Elspeth Thomson.  Her maternal grandparents were Robert Thomson and Janet Shipherd. She had four brothers named John, Thomas, George and James.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died due to heart disease, disease of the heart and lungs, duration 4 weeks, at the age of 33 on January 20th, 1855 in St. Quivox.  She was buried in Newton-on-Ayr.2 2
