Andrew's father was John Rennie and his mother was Isabella Inglis Smith. His paternal grandparents were James Rennie and Janet Stronach. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named James, John, Archibald, Catherine, Euphemia and Jenny. He died due to heart disease, myocardial degeneration, duration 4 years, syncope, at the age of 81 on April 5th, 1942 in Glasgow. He was buried in Biggar.³⁴⁵

      Annie and Harriet Robertson said in the 1980s that they believed that they were related to the founder of that company, which turned out to be correct (he was their grandfather's cousin).
