James' father was James Pearson and his mother was Sarah Fraser. His maternal grandparents were John Fraser and Sarah Templeton. He had a brother and a sister, named Jack and Sarah. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 49 on November 8th, 1947 in Paisley. He was buried in Paisley.²²
