Maryanne's father was James McMurran and her mother was Marion Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were John McMurran and Agnes Robertson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Agnes and Allison.  She was the oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother named Peter.
