Susanna was born in December 1823 in Prestwick and her baptism took place there on December 29th, 1823. Susanna's father was Jonathon McMurren and her mother was Susan McAllan. She had two brothers and a sister, named Allan, David and Ann.  She was the youngest of the four children.
