Janet's father was John McLellan and her mother was Agnes Turner.  Her maternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. She had five brothers named Archibald, John, Alexander, Peter and Richard.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 77 in 1918 in Urray.
