Janet's father was John Louden and her mother was Janet Cockburn.  Her paternal grandparents were William Louden and Julian Johnston. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Jane.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 76 in 1927 in Edinburgh.
