William was born in 1873 in Port Glasgow.1  William's father was James Henry and his mother was Nancy Hill. He had a brother and two sisters, named James, Sarah and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 73 in June 1946.  He was buried on July 1st, 1946 in Port Glasgow.2 2
