Kate's father was William Galt and her mother was Margaret Towers. Her maternal grandparents were William Tours and Margaret Colquhoun. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, John, James, James, Margaret, Cecillia and Tina. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 87 on July 14th, 1953 in Paisley. She was buried in Paisley.³³
