John Flinn 
John was born in 1839 in Newton-on-Ayr.1 2 John's father was William Flinn and his mother was Mary Carson. His paternal grandparents were William Flinn and Susan McAllan. He had a brother and five sisters, named William, Margaret, Susan, Mary, Hellen and Janet. He was the third youngest of the seven children.-
