William's father was John Fisher and his mother was Ellennora Aitken.  His maternal grandparents were James Aitken and Janet Aird. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Matthew, Lawrance, Hugh, Robert, Thomas, Matthew, Robert, Agnes, Eleanor and Nelley.  He was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 56 in 1925 in Glasgow.
