Jane's father was Alexander Dobie and her mother was Margaret Henderson.  Her maternal grandparents were Archibald Henderson and Jean Brash. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Alexander, Archibald, Robert, David, Henry, Thomas, Agnes, Helen, Margaret, Jessie, Janet and Jessie.  She was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 80 on November 24th, 1910 in Corstorphine.  She was buried in Linlithgow.^2 2
