Margaret's father was Alexander Cuningham and her mother was Margaret Brash.  Her maternal grandparents were John Brash and Jean Richie. She had a brother and three sisters, named Alexander, Jean, Helen and Isabel.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died due to a medical problem, jaundice, duration 2 months, at the age of 67 on December 27th, 1860 in Broxburn.  She was buried in Uphall.^2 2
