Jessie's father was John Wilson Crawford and her mother was Jessie (Jennie) Charlotte Rennie. Her maternal grandparents were James Rennie and Catherine (Kate) Stobo. She had three brothers named John, James and Robert. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Peter, George, Margaret and Ann Mary. She died at the age of 72 in 1961 in Largs.
