Robina was born in 1826 in Leith.1  Robina's father was David Brash and her mother was Agnes Henderson.  Her paternal grandparents were David Brash and Margaret Easton. She had a brother and five sisters, named Alexander, Jane, Agnes, Margaret, Elizabeth and Magdalene.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
