Margaret was born in 1808 in St. Quivox.1  Margaret's father was David Bone and her mother was Margaret Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were James Bone and Janet Duncan. She had six brothers and a sister, named James, Thomas, David, William, John, Alexander and Elspeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
