James was born in February 1698 in Kirkliston and his baptism took place there on March 6th, 1698. James' father was John Bishop. He had a brother and four sisters, named Patrick, Agnes, Margaret, Helen and Janet.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  James is no longer alive.
