Alexander Bruce (of Kinnaird)

Alexander Bruce, 4th of Kinnaird, apprenticed to Andrew Steven, Merchant in Edinburgh, on 22 July, 1646, was present with his elder brother in the Royalist army at the battle of Worcester in 1651 and managed to make his escape and to whom he was retoured heir on 3 January, 1655. He m. firstly in 1664 to Helen, daughter of Sir Robert Bruce, 10th of Clackmannan, secondly at Edinburgh on 2 November, 1676, to Margaret Elphinstone and d. in 1711. He had issue,
1. Helen Bruce, m. in 1685 to David Hay, 3rd of Woodcockdale, (eldest son and heir of John Hay, 2nd of Woodcockdale, and was c. at Linlithgow on 2 April, 1665. He d. prior to 1 June, 1697,) and had issue,

1a Alexander Hay, b. on 21 January, 1689, and d. young.

1a} John Hay, b. on 23 December, 1690, and d. young.

1a} David Hay Bruce, 4th of Woodcockdale and Kinnaird, b. on 25 November, 1696, and assumed the surname and arms of Bruce of Kinnaird upon succeeding to his maternal estate. He m. in 1729 to Marion, daughter of James Graham, 1st of Airth, and had issue.

1a} Margaret Hay, b. on 30 August, 1683.

1a} Helen Hay, c. at Edinburgh on 31 December, 1687, and m. to William Hamilton, 7th son of William Hamilton, 3rd of Wishaw, (he d. on 15 January, 1754,) and had issue.
2. Jean Bruce, c. at Larbert on 28 October, 1669, m. to Henry Bruce, 14th of Clackmannan, and had issue.
He died in 1711.
