- Born April 7, 1928 to William and Mary Forrest in Madison, WI. She attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison and received her degree in Education and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Betty became an art teacher and met her husband Gene McEvoy (a Latin teacher at the time) at Mitchell Junior High School in Racine, WI where she lived and was teaching at the time. Betty and Gene were married in 1956. They were the first married couple in the State of Wisconsin to be allowed to teach at the same school. They began their family in Kenosha, WI. They had two sons already when they discovered they were having twin boys and moved to Racine, WI in 1969. In 1972 they purchased a summer home in Door County that they would later retire to. Betty (a well known Wisconsin watercolor artist) and husband Gene (a talented wood carver) often participated in local art shows in Door County. Their work was found in many local art galleries and Betty McEvoy had her work displayed the Wustum Museum in Racine. She was a founding member of the Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek, WI.
She died at the age of 72 on January 27th, 2001 in
Door Cty, Wisconsin USA.
