Robert was born on March 18th, 1766 in Stainsecar, Whitby, Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place there on April 27th, 1766.1   Robert's father was Robert ORD and his mother was Jane GOFFTON. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Christopher, Henry, Henry, Mathew, Elizabeth, Jane, Ann and Dorothy.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.
