Mathew was born on November 9th, 1781 in Stainsecar, Whitby, Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place there on January 1st, 1782.1   Mathew's father was Robert ORD and his mother was Jane GOFFTON. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Henry, Christopher, Henry, Henry, Elizabeth, Jane, Ann and Dorothy.  He was the youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1849 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.2
