DeForest was born in 1849 in New York.¹ DeForest's father was Enos C. HILLS and his mother is <Unknown>. His paternal grandparents were Roger Enos HILLS and Lucretia BISHOP. He had three brothers named Thomas, Leroy and Enos. He was the youngest of the four children. DeForest is no longer alive.
