Gladys was born on March 8th, 1894 in Naperville, DuPage County, llinois.  Gladys' father was Reverend Thomas Western HEYLAND and her mother was Anna Scott Van OSDEL.  Her paternal grandparents were John H. HIGHLAND and Letitia KENNY; her maternal grandparents were Charles Ruland Van OSDEL and Ella Mary MATLOCK. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Leslie, Ralph Arthur, Florence and Anita.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died due to heart disease at the age of 60 on September 13th, 1954 in 5706 Blackstone, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  Her burial was on September 14th, 1954 in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
