Martha was born on November 23rd, 1812 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and her baptism took place there on November 24th, 1812.1   Martha's father was Peter FORREST and her mother was Jane PEACOCK. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Robert, Peter, John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Martha, Ann and Grace.  She was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
