Thomas was born on September 5th, 1796 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place there on November 25th, 1796.  Thomas' father was John COULTHIRST and his mother was Elizabeth GLAVES. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Jacob, Thomas, Ann, Mary, Dorothy, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died due to a childhood disease at the age of 2 on January 21st, 1799 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.1
