Mary's father was Henry BROWN and her mother was Isabella BARRY. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph BROWN and Eleanor STAINTHORP; her maternal grandparents were Robert BARRY and Isabella. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Henry, Eleanor and Ann. She was the second oldest of the five children.
