John BROWN

John was born in 1860 in Ruswarp, England.¹ John's father was Joseph BROWN and his mother was Ann MAUGHAN. His paternal grandparents were Joseph BROWN and Eleanor STAINTHORP; his maternal grandparents were John MAUGHAN and Rachel MORLOW. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Henry, Rachel, Fanny and Isabell. He was the youngest of the six children.

General Notes
- Birth date from 1881 census. In the 1881 census John`s occupation is given as a Plumber and Glazier Marriage BMD. GRO ref:- Whitby 9d 895 Dec 1/4 1882 This ref needs confirmation but it looks as if he married a girl called Hannah Elizabeth Thompson. Alive in 1901 census and working as a railway engine driver.
