Daniel C. ALLEN

Daniel was born on March 21st, 1821 in Clear Creek, Henderson County, North Carolina, USA.¹ Daniel's father was George ALLEN and his mother was Margaret Elizabeth OSBORNE (OSBORN). His paternal grandparents were George ALLEN and Mildred B. JOHNSON. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named John, Joel, John, James, Sarah, Jane, Mary, Margaret, Eleanor, Mary and Leah. He was the seventh oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 71 on August 23rd, 1892 in Henderson County, North Carolina, USA.¹

General Notes
- In 1816 Daniel Allen moved to Orange County, Indiana, leaving behind one son, George Allen in North Carolina. Daniel gave George Power of Attorney to sell his North Carolina lands. George Allen was born 16 January 1786. He married Margaret Osborne, the daughter of John Osborne Sr. and Margaret Claypoole, on 17 November 1808 and purchased land from Daniel Case along the Howard Gap Road in the Ebenezer area in 1809.
  George Allen said to have operated a large Log inn and stock pen for drovers taking livestock from Kentucky and Tennessee to markets in South Carolina. He was appointed a commissioner to select and obtain the land for the town site of Hendersonville. George Allen, in 1852, deeded two and one-half acres of his land to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
  George and Margaret Allen had eleven children. Two sons, Joel and Daniel, remained and reared families in the Ebenezer area. The original Allen homeplace is no longer standing but the home place of Daniel, at the time of this writing, stands adjacent to Ebenezer Baptist Church parsonage.
  The Children of George Allen and Margaret Osborne were Joel R. Allen, born 29 January 1810. He married first Cathrine Gray and second Christiana Morris; Sarah N. Allen born 14 May 1812, married Seaborne Featherstone; Jane C. Allen, born 21 February 1814, married John C. Justus. Celia M. Allen, born 22 May 1816, married Joseph Fletcher; John O. Allen, born 14 September 1818; Daniel C. Allen, born 21 March 1821, married first Myra Logan and second Sarah Jones. Margaret Elizabeth Allen, born 23 January 1824, married Lemuel T. Dermid, Sr.; Eleanor E. Allen, born 15 September 1826, married Thomas J. Case; Mary Ann Allen, born 30 March, 1830, married James Walker Jones; James M. Allen, born 19 February 1831; Leah D. Allen, born 29 December 1832, married Thomas P. Patterson.
