Cattron Catherine Vanmaitre Van Meter

    As founder and editor of the National Blue Family
    Association I have yet to determine the parentage
    of the wife of one of our oldest ancestors:
    Catherine, or Cattron, wife of John Blue/Blew,
    b. 1691, d. 1770, who is believed to have been born a
    Van Meter. She was named Executor of her husband's
    will, a duty she declined in favor of son Abraham
    Blue. She is said to have been a Van Meter by some
    Blue family researchers but no one has found her
    parents yet. By the spelling of her name she is
    believed to have been Dutch.
    The Van Meters were Dutch.
    
    Mary, if you find a Cattron Van Meter, b. ca 1690-
    1700, in any of your books (we have checked the Duke Genealogy and she s
    not found in that resource) please contact me.
    
    If anyone has thoughts on the parentage of Cattron
    (Van Meter?) Blue, I would like to hear from you.
    She almost certainly connects to the Hampshire Co.,
    Van Meter families who came into that part of Virginia
    very early on; descendants of 'Van Meter the
    Indian Trader.'
