William was born in 1745.  William's father was Capt John McIntosh and his mother was Margaret Marion McGillivray.  His paternal grandparents were Benjamin McIntosh and Catherine McIntosh; his maternal grandparents are William McGillivray and Janet McIntosh. He had four brothers and a sister, named David, Jesse M, Daniel, 6 ch and McIntosh.  He died at the age of 49 in 1794.
