Thomas was born on July 12th, 1800 in Hawkins Co., TN.  Thomas' father was John Marshall and his mother was Ann Long. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William, Joseph, George, Rutledge, John, David R, Elizabeth, Jean and Ann.  He was the eighth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 63 on August 3rd, 1863 in Hawkins Co., TN.
