John J was born on September 10th, 1828 in Brush Creek, near Irondale, Ohio.  John J's father was John Lamborn Marshall and his mother was ELIZABETH (BETSY) Gillingham.  His paternal grandparents were Moses maybe JR Marshall Sr and Lydia Lamborn; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Gillingham and Frances Fannie Milner. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, Moses, Joseph, Samuel, Harvey Harve Ohio to Wisconsin, Charles, Lydia, Frances  Fanny and Hannah Mariah.  He was the eighth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 72 on May 24th, 1901 in Mechanicstown, OH.
