    This William was b in OH in 1777, probably in Lichtenau. His father, Richard, b 1718, possibly in MD, mar Margaret Boyer, a white woman raised in Indian villages after her capture by the Shawnee. He ransomed her for $200 and a promise to turn over their first born son. When son, James, was born in 1771, he was given to the Shawnee. Later they ransomed James back to the family.
    
    In 1980 I corresponded with Cleve Kinnear in Claremore, OK. He has a William Conner b 1818, KY; mar ca 1837 to Drucilla Davis; served in Civil War in Co. E, 1st Cherokee Mt. Rifles, CSA as a blacksmith. He died 1868 in Indian Terr. Ch were Caleb, Susan L, Nancy A, William Jr, James J, Mary E, Francis M, Margaret, and Thomas E.
