Ellis was born in 1780 in Cherokee Nation East  GA Native America.  Ellis' father was Ezekiel Buffington and his mother was Elizabeth Emory (Cherokee).  His paternal grandfather was Thomas Buffington Jr and his paternal grandmother is Mary Harlan; his maternal grandparents were Col William Emory (Cherokee) and Mary Grant (Ani'-Gil�'hi = Twisters, Braids, or Long Hair Clan (Mary Grant)). He had four half-brothers and seven half-sisters, and also a half-sibling of unknown gender, named Thomas, Charles, John   Hell-Fire Jack, James, Mary, Susannah, Anne, Mary, Jennie Due, AKY U-LU-S-QUA-TO-GU, Nancy and 6 ch.  He died at the age of 78 in 1858.
