John was born in 1884 in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.1   John's father was John Price Millichap and his mother was Eliza Davies.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Millichap and Ann Price; his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and Eliza. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Charles, William, Ernest, Mary and Lilian.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
