Dora's father was David Lowndes and her mother was Ada Lowe. Her paternal grandparents were David Lowndes and Mary Riley; her maternal grandparents were David Lowe and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and three sisters, named David, George, Olive, Mary and Helen. She died at the age of 92 in 2010 in Holywell, Wales.²
