Johann was born in December 1668 in Steimbke, Nienburg, Hannover, Germany.  Johann's father was Luder (Ludeke) Scharringhausen and his mother was Catharine Krumreide. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Stasha, Heinrich, Dieterich, Catharina, Anna and Ilse.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 35 in July 1704 in Steimbke, Nienburg, Hannover, Germany.
